Cortina, known as the Pearl of the Dolomites, is one of the top resorts in the Dolomiti Superski area. It is in a wide, bowl shaped valley surrounded by spectacular mountains whose slopes are guaranteed to be perfectly groomed, 90% of them with snow making facilities. The local skiing is extensive and varied and other resorts such as San Cassiano and Corvara in the Dolomiti Superski area are easily reached from the Falzarego pass. The resort offers numerous activities including many for the non skier. For people-watchers, the evening highlight is the passeggiata (stroll) along the Corso Italia by fur-and-jewellery clad visitors from Milan and Venice wandering through antique shops, designer boutiques and bars.
