The ski resort of Starý smokovec offers more than just skiing and is particularly suitable for families with children. There are easy and moderate slopes, so it is suitable for beginners and also early intermediate skiers. You can get to Hrebienok by a ground cable car, where were is a 2.6 km long sled run from Hrebienok back to Starý Smokovec. Hrebienok is also a good starting points for many great hike trails that lead to mountain cottages, which are open 365 days of the year. Starý Smokovec is the administrative centre of the High Tatras and the important railway junction of Tatra electric railway.
