Dublin means the Town of the Hurdled Ford. It is the largest city and the capital of Ireland. The city has been known as Ireland's cultural capital. Dublin Bay lies between the mouth of the River Liffey and the Dalkey headland. It is the site of quite a few coastal towns and the ferry port of Dun Laoghaire. Dublin is split into two by the River Liffey. On the North side of the Liffey is O'Connell Street, the main street which is intersected by numerous shopping streets, including Henry Street and Talbot Street. On the south side are the St. Stephen's Green, Grafton Street (shopping), Trinity College, Christ Church and St. Patrick's Cathedrals. Localities especially teenagers like browsing the Temple Bar neighbourhood which is home to cafes, clubs, galleries and boutiques. Nine miles north of Dublin, Howt is a village on the Irish Sea which should be explored. The Saint Anne's in the middle of the sweeping lawns shaded by chestnut trees, the rose garden is the largest park and blooms in season with hundreds of yellow, pink, red, and multi-coloured flowers. Dublin's popularity is mainly due to its famous nightlife. The Wicklow Mountains are not far of from the city where hills, forests and waterfalls attract walkers and nature-lovers.
